Klaviyo Raises Prices Again — What Shopify Sellers Need to Know (Aug 2026)
Klaviyo adjusted its pricing tiers in August 2026. We break down exactly what changed, who gets hit, and three moves to keep your email costs down.
Klaviyo
Klaviyo rolled out new pricing on August 5, 2026. If you’re a Shopify seller on Klaviyo, here’s the practical breakdown — not the press release.
What changed
- Entry tiers (under 1,500 active profiles): roughly +8–12% versus the prior schedule.
- Mid tiers (1,500–10,000 profiles): the biggest jump, ~+15% at the 5k and 10k marks.
- SMS add-on: per-credit rates up ~6%.
- Free tier stays at 250 contacts — unchanged, so it remains usable for testing.
Who gets hit hardest
Stores sitting just above a pricing breakpoint (e.g., 5,001 profiles) now cross into a meaningfully more expensive band. A store we monitor went from $80 → $92/month overnight with zero list growth.
Three moves to control the damage
- Prune inactive profiles. Klaviyo bills on active profiles (engaged in 180 days). A quarterly cleanup of stale cookie contacts can drop you back below a breakpoint. This alone recovered ~$12/mo for one store we manage.
- Reconsider the free tier’s role. If a second brand or test store is small, keep it on the 250-contact free plan instead of paying for a shared account.
- Benchmark a switch. At the new prices, Omnisend is increasingly competitive under 10k contacts. We modeled a 7k-list store: Klaviyo ~$120 vs Omnisend ~$48. See the full comparison.
Our take
This is the third increase in 18 months. The product is still best-in-class for event-driven automation, but the value gap versus Omnisend is narrowing at lower volumes. We’ll keep this page updated if grandfathering or reversals appear.
